Musing; The Bud and The Heels

She remembered the dream.

He came back that day and told her he told his boss about her. She was happy. Eager to hear what he must have said about her. He didn't keep her waiting. Before she asked, he went on. He said he told his boss she was an example of lofty ideas but no will to pursue them. Like a balloon pricked with a needle, her countenance fell. Oh how she wished he had just left her to herself, as usual, when he returned.

Today, she remembered the dream.

She knew she would work with people. She knew that is her calling. She knew she is to make impact. The plight of the downtrodden and helpless always got to her. That dream was vivid. It stayed with her.

Coincidentally, it was the same month she took her life in her hands, days shy of each other. There must be something special about this month. It wasn't the month of her biological birth, but it was the month of her rebirth. The month she got her life back.

He had walked out that day, the same way he had many times before. This time, it was a little different. He walked out on her. Well, not exactly. She did not have to think about it, he made her decision easier. Oh! She walked! Gallantly, she walked. Her head held high, she walked. Strutting and delicately swaying on the high heels life had given to her, she walked.

She has always been fascinated by flowers. Delicately "unbudding" to reveal the true beauty of the flower, she loved the newness of life they came with. The scent they sweetly spread around. She felt like one of those flowers today. She has blossomed. Her life is filled with love and laughter and something, or a someone, to wake up to everyday. She knew and felt love, every single day. The dream was coming to pass, right before her eyes.

Yes, he was right, she has brilliant ideas. But she considers herself a seed. In the right atmosphere, she will germinate and blossom. He did not see that. He missed out on being the rich soil her seed needed. She has no pain anymore. Her wounds have healed. She's smarter. She's bolder. And the dreams have not stopped.

She celebrates one of those dreams today. She's glad she can say her brainchild is growing in leaps and bounds. She can boldly stand, shoulders high, look herself in the mirror and declare to herself "he was wrong!"
