A New Year Rolls In!

No matter how awesome or not the year 2017 was, it's history now. Though in some parts of the world, they're still peeping to see what 2018 is like. We that have turned the calendar can tell them the view is looking great!

Whatever victories you had in the past year, consolidate on them. Whatever the disappointments, drop the curtain on them and get ready to turn them around. Hey, it's a brand new start, a brand new day, week and year. Get up, get motivated, get ready to dig into the works and emerge with your shining trophies.

I see a beautiful year ahead of me. What do you see?

Musing: Thankful For November

Every single day that dawns, we should be thankful. I won't start listing what you should be thankful for. Just take a look around you, the myriad of reasons surround you. And for those who still don't see it, this day dawned upon the month of thanksgiving!

It doesn't matter what January to October have been. Personally, October was a really challenging month for me, but I chose and still choose to see it as a blessing. Lessons learnt, praises rise.

Lyrics of The Day - THESE WALLS by Jason David

You are greater
Than these walls I’m circling
You are stronger
Than this army that I see
You are bigger
Than these mountains that I face
And I will choose to only praise You

This is my song, this is my dare
To worship You even as these walls are standing there
This is my song, this is my prayer
I will declare

Musing; Are There Really Different Types Of Sexual Molestation?

Rape is a violent crime involving sexual acts forced on one person by another. It is technically defined as forced penetration (with any body part or object) into another person, including anal, vaginal or oral intercourse. However, this does not include an act done for a bona fide medical purpose, which will be by consent obtained from the patient or their carer. Rape is illegal and while the term "rape" specifies penetration, other sexual acts not involving penetration, when forced on someone, are also illegal. There are several types of rape.

The forms of rape may be specified based on who is committing the rape, who the rape victim is and the specific actions involved in the rape. Some types of rape are considered much more severe than others. For example, any type of rape resulting in someone's death is punishable by death in the United States.

Lyrics of The Day - CAN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU by Frankie Valli

You're just too good to be true
I can't take my eyes off you
You'd be like heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off you

Pardon the way that I stare
There's nothing else to compare
The sight of you leaves me weak
There are no words left to speak
But if you feel like I feel
Please let me know that it's real
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off you

Musing; Into The Mind Of The Rapist

It's easy to fight an enemy, if you know how they operate. And if you can't fight them, you can at least avoid them. When we talk about rape, the discussion almost always revolves around the victim. What was she wearing? Was she alone? What was she doing out late at night? Was she under the influence of alcohol? We barely talk about the rapist. Why did he do what he did? What was going on in his mind? Is it possible that he was also abused? We need to also realize that there are male victims of rape/molestation and female perpetrators of rape/molestation. They are not widely talked about because men hardly report that they were raped or molested as children. They have been 'schooled' to believe that reporting such is a sign of weakness and they should actually be proud they were considered worthy of being raped. This school of thought is as sick as the act itself.

Lyrics of The Day - SIGN OF A VICTORY by R. Kelly

I can see the colors of the rainbow
And I can feel the sun on my face
I see the light at the end of the tunnel
And I can feel heaven in it's place

And that's the sign of a victory

I can feel the spirit of the nations
And I can feel my wings ridin' the winds, yeah
I see the finish line just up ahead now
And I can feel it risin' deep within

And that's the sign of a victory

Musing; Understand What It Really Is

I have always known rape exists. I have always known child molestation exists. What I did not realize is, how common and frequent it is. In the past couple of days, I've been reading real life experiences of women and men, yes, men, who were molested as toddlers, kids and even as adults and they have been tearing my heart apart, every story I've read. I'll be taking some time to write on this menace. I believe this is a good time as any, seeing as the kids are home on holiday and it's a more vulnerable time for them.

What exactly is child molestation? According to The Free Dictionary, "child molestation is a crime involving a range of indecent or sexual activities between an adult and a child, usually under the age of 14. In psychiatric terms, these acts are sometimes known as pedophilia. It is important, however, to keep in mind that child molestation and child Sexual Abuse refer to specific, legally defined actions. They do not necessarily imply that the perpetrator bears a particular psychological makeup or motive. For example, not all incidents of child molestation are perpetrated by pedophiles; sometimes the perpetrator has other motives for his or her actions and does not manifest an ongoing pattern of sexual attraction to children. Thus, not all child molestation is perpetrated by pedophiles, and not all pedophiles actually commit child molestation."

Lyrics of The Day - WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS LOVE (Soundtrack from Boss Baby) by Missi Hale

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No not just for some but for everyone.

Lord, we don't need another mountain
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross
Enough to last till the end of time.

Musing: This Menace Has Got To Stop!

I wish I could scream the title and have it reverberate across every device, to the world's end.

Recently, the issue of child rape came to fore again. I have been reading stories that are driving me . . . arghhhh! Children, no, babies, are being raped on the daily. Little girls and boys, vulnerable, put in the care of supposedly trusted adults, are violated, right under their parents noses.

#IWIllMarryWhenIMarry SERIES 2

"Why did you get married?" I asked him.
After a brief pause, he sighed and said "it felt like the right thing to do".

"The right thing, according to who?" I asked again.

"Well, most of my friends were already married and the number of those I could hang out with had reduced. If most of my friends were married, it just meant that's the time in our lives we're at. It was the right thing to do at that time."

Slowly, I nodded my head. A thousand thoughts running through it.

"I guess most of your friends are separated now right?"

"How do you mean?" He had a confused look on his face.
