Musing; The Power Within

The African woman, as well as women in other cultures & countries, are saddled with the burden of succeeding. As much as they are expected to succeed, a ceiling is placed on how far they can go. It's like someone asking you to run, but tying your legs together. That can never be easy!

Ours is a patriarchal society, where the woman should be seen & mostly not heard. Despite this, many women are making waves in the world now. They are finding their voices, tapping into their inner strength, and taking their destinies in their hands. And, though the men may grumble and talk them down at first, they end up respecting them. One of such women is a Nigerian, Mrs Ibukun Awosika, who just became the first female chairman of First Bank Nigeria. She has steadily risen from the days of being known just for making chairs, to the several leadership positions she holds today. There are several women out there today, with similar profiles. There, really, is no excuse for mediocrity.

Do you have a dream? Wake up & achieve it. Do you have an ambition? Realize it. Do you have a vision? Pursue it. Don't allow yourself be a victim of "the norm". I believe in you, I hope you believe in you.

  1. Well said. Nobody can believe in me if I don't believe in myself. Quite on point.
