STAG Project
Almost from the moment a baby girl is born, her grooming starts. She's taught to cater for a household, be a dutiful caregiver, wife, mother, in-law, working woman, home maker, e.t.c This is aside the fact that she is created with some innate abilities that tend towards these roles naturally. She is expected to be perfect, to bear all and be strong for all. Very little attention is paid to the grooming of the male and preparing him for the roles he's to take up in future.
Generally, the idea of domination, control and lordship is what the male child grows up with. As much as these are no sin, he needs to learn to channel them rightly to create a home atmosphere, especially, for the development of well rounded offspring. Whenever I picture the possibility of this positive cycle, it gladdens my heart. There will be less societal vices and domestic abuse/violence.
Taking a step in this direction, to mentor young men and create a platform for them to grow positively and properly channel their strength and ideas, the STAG Project will be launched this Saturday, 22nd of August 2015.
Considering the wide spate of Intimate Partner Violence and Domestic Abuse/Violence as a whole, drug abuse, fraud at different levels rebellion and a host of other societal ills, this is a platform any young man should jump on!
Are you a parent of a young man between the ages of 14 and 25?
Are you a young man in that age bracket?
Are you a sibling to a young man that fits this range?
Are you a neighbour, teacher, friend, friend of a friend, caregiver or have any form of access to a young man aged between 14 and 25?
Then, one great favour you can do them is to pass this information on to them. Get them to register, and not just register, to attend. Registration closes by noon on Thursday 20th August, 2015, so hurry! Please refer to the flyer above for details.
Only eternity will be able to measure the impact you would have made by getting a young man into this programme.
